Wexford based Irishman Alan Ryan from Skerries in Dublin was the first Irish athlete to complete the 2012 Iron man World Championships in Hawaii today. With an overall placing of 133 Ryan came 3rd in his Category (45-49 age). With a swim placing of 119 in this category Ryan put up a steady challenge on the bicycle to take him to 16th place and finally the marathon saw him take the bronze position with an overall time of 9.33.34.
