Dublin City Council (DCC) has issued a high-tide alert in Dublin. The high tide is said to be extremely high and above their Tide Alert levels.

Following a meeting of the council's Flooding Assessment Group the following precautionary measures have been taken:

  • The car parks at Sandymount promenade and at Clontarf are closed today.
  • A limited number of large sandbags have been put in place in Clontarf
  • The flood gates on the River Dodder are closed and will be closed for the weekend.
  • The flood defences on the River Tolka have been put in place.
  • The Liffey Boardwalk defences are closed this morning.
  • Spencer Dock Flood gates have been closed.
The high-tide alert was officially issued at 11.45am on Friday and was recorded to be 2.77m, another update will be released this afternoon but the council said that it's not expected to be as high.

DCC are maintaining a supply of sandbags at various locations to be deployed if required.
Council staff are on standby to deal with any flooding that may occur.
