If you're driving through the Milk Market in Limerick City on Friday, make sure to 'pullover' and help them in their world record attempt.

The folks in Limerick are aiming to break the record for the largest contingent of Christmas jumper wearers in one place.

Two years ago, 583 people dressed in festive tops took to the streets of Dublin. Now their record is in real jeopardy due to the huge response from Limerick people to the planned event on Friday.

People are asked to arrive, dressed in their Christmas jumper, to the Milk Market between 12-1pm, and excitement is building according to John Coughlan, proprietor of The Edge clothes shop in the market:

It’s unbelievable. This has been our busiest year to date. It’s just gone crazy. We have sold hundreds of jumpers and people are still coming in looking for them.

- speaking to the Limerick Leader

When chatting to the Limerick Leader Coughlan also said it is seen as a opportunity to escape the doom and gloom, a chance to bring families together in the Milk Market.

So if you're in the area on Friday, get yourself a jumper and go help break a world record.
