Liam the Lucky Leprechaun promotes Colorado lottery

The Leprechaun is one of those mildly embarrassing Irish symbols – a piece of folklore that's been overused for... well, stuff like this rapping leprechaun selling lotto tickets.

The Colorado Lottery – owned by the state of Colorado, mind you – made this advert to promote their Lucky Shamrock scratch cards last March. It's ... something special.

I was born back in the day in a country that's green,

And from that day forward my luck was routine

I'm lucky, always have been, I'm Liam,

And in case didn't notice I have perfect skin.

With writing like that, it's almost as good as the ridiculous Irish Spring TV adverts. No word yet if Liam will be hitting TV screens stateside in the run-up to 17 March.
