The Temple Bar Tradfest is kicking off today in Dublin, and promises to be a feast of the best of Irish music.

Many of us have heard traditonal music at sessions and céilís but been completely oblivious to the names of the tunes that were being played. Or maybe you've never heard Irish traditional music before? Either way we're here to help, with a last minute cramming session that will leave you able to impress all your friends if you're heading to Temple Bar over the next week.

Here are six of the most popular jigs, reels, and polkas, and then we've also included four famous Irish songs that you might hear.

1. Tom Ryan's Polka

2. Sally Gardens

3. The Merry Blacksmith

4. Kerry Polka

5. Mason's Apron

6. Siege of Ennis

OK, so for the next four we're changing it up a bit. These are some great Irish songs. There were too many to choose from so seeing as it's miserable weather and we're in the depths of a depressing January we've decided to keep it all upbeat with our choices!

7. Courtin' in the Kitchen

8. Muirsheen Durkin

9. Finnegan's Wake

10. The Irish Rover

So there's the ten for you. Although I think it lacks some Christy Moore sweating and singing with his eyes closed so here's a bonus one, with a bit of advice for you to boot!
