The Irish are famous for many things, from musicians to humor, to Oscar winning performances, but there's also definitely something pretty special about our food.

Here are some of our most famous products.


1. Kerry

Famous for: Butter

Kerrymaid and Kerrygold are two of Co Kerry's famous butters and of course the renowned food company Kerry Group has its headquarters in Tralee adding to its dairy fame.


2. Cavan

Famous for: Pork

Cavan has a long history of pork in the county. From Pottle Meats to Truly Irish, it has gained quite a reputation for pork.


3. Wexford

Famous for: Strawberries

Mmmm Wexford strawberries are a great treat. Usually sold on the side of the road, they're worth stopping for if you see them signposted. Trust me - they're awesome.


4. Dublin

Famous for: Guinness

Home of the 'black stuff', it makes total sense to have Guinness as Dublin's top choice. Though *technically* not a food we couldn't ignore how great a pint is.


5. Waterford

Famous for: Blaa bread

No it's not a made-up word, it's quite real - and tasty too! A blaa is a soft and doughy, white bread bun that's a Waterford specialty.


6. Galway

Famous for: Oysters

Galway Oyster Festival - need we say more? Galway is famous for harvesting this delicious seafood, an acquired taste for some but give it a go with some Tabasco sauce and a squirt of lemon you're laughing.


7. Donegal

Famous for: Fish

Donegal's fish is in one word: yummy. You can't beat freshly caught fillets of cod/sole/haddock!


8. Monaghan

Famous for: Mushrooms

Surely you've heard of Co Monaghan's famous mushroom farms? These scrumptious mushrooms have been in the Irish market for yonks.


9. Cork

Famous for: Cheese 

Charleville cheese on crackers and a bottle of red? Yes please!


10. Kilkenny

Famous for: Smithwicks

Again, technically not a food per se but needs the mention as it is Kilkenny's finest drink.


11. Tipperary

Famous for: Water

Sure where else would you get it? The Tipperary springs are renowned for their fresh bottled water.


12. Meath


Famous for: Crisps

Of course, sure it's the home of Hunky Dorys and the amazing Mr. Tayto


13. Derry

Famous for: Eels

It's true, Lough Neagh eels in Co Derry are there for the taking.


14. Wicklow

Famous for: Lamb

They're cute and adorable but they also taste really great (sorry!)


17. Down

Famous for: An Irish potato, the Comber Early

According to RTÉ News this potato is gathering fame in Co Down.


18. Mayo

Famous for: Smoked ham

Smoked ham is absolutely delicious and would be perfect for a Sunday meal.


19. Louth

Famous for: Honey

The sweet and lovely Boyne Valley Honey is from the wee Co Louth.


20. Sligo

Famous for: Venison

Coopershill venison is regarded as one of Sligo's prime suppliers in the meat - we've heard great things about it!
