'I'm so grateful to the Academy for this beautiful honour' – Daniel Day-Lewis makes history at Oscars

Daniel Day-Lewis made Oscar history last night by becoming the first man to be named best actor three times.
The actor won the award for his iconic portrayal of former US president Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's biopic that was released in 2012.
Accepting his award from fellow actor Meryl Streep, Day-Lewis told the crowd: 'I really don't know how any of this happened.' The actor also paid tribute to his wife Rebecca Miller and to his mother, Jill Balcon.
Day-Lewis previously won best actor for 'There Will be Blood' and 'My Left Foot.'

National Film and Television School student and Kerrywoman, Fodhla Cronin O'Reilly, sadly missed out on 'best animated short film' which went to Disney's Paperman and Irish cinematographer Seamus McGarvey also missed out to Life of Pi for his work on Anna Karenina.
