Photos: Take a tour around some of Ireland's most expensive homes

A 150-year-old Scottish Baronial style castle featuring Ireland's largest wine cellar (with room for 55,000 bottles, fact fans) has gone on sale in Co Limerick. Castle Oliver near Ardpatrick is on the market for a whopping €2.95 million and can sleep 16 guests in eight ensuite bedrooms.
It's just one of a number of luxury homes to go on sale around Ireland in recent months and, for no other reason than to have a snoop around inside them, we've listed a few of the most massive mansions that are available to buy right now.
Property prices are pretty much at their lowest level since the early 1990s, so the following five properties could, in some mad world made of gold, be considered a bargain.
36 Ailesbury Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4 – €5.5m
The 6-bedroomed property is currently in use as the French Embassy but according to its owners, can be converted into a family home (subject to planning permission). It sits on 42 hectares of land in one of Dublin's most exclusive areas. Sherry FitzGerald are the agents.

Fastnet House, Kinsale, Co. Cork – €3.75m
This property is all about the views over Kinsale Harbour – oh, and its 14-metre heated pool. And five ensuite bedrooms and MASSIVE windows. Not many homes in Ireland can boast that. Cohalan Downing are the agents.

Sky Road, Clifden, Co. Galway – €3m
Another room with a view, this time in Co Galway. The 5-bedroom, 5-reception house also overlooks the nearby Darcy Castle. Ganley Walters are the agents.

Knockabbey Castle, Ardee, Co. Louth – €2.5m
If modern and sleek isn't your thing, how about something a little older? Knockabbey Castle in Co Louth comes with a stone-flagged floor, eight (!) bedrooms and an octagonal gazebo. Ganley Walters are the agents.

Greenan, Avoca Avenue, Blackrock, Co. Dublin – €2.5m
It may have six bedrooms, four bathrooms and be situated on five acres in Blackrock, but what interests us most about this house is the fact that it has a full-sized bar on the ground floor. Who's up for a game of pool? Allen and Jacobs is the agent.
