All this heat and not enough water!
While most of us are lapping up the sun while we have it, some people are strategically thinking about the results of this heatwave.
Ireland is definitely not used to such heat. People are getting into routines where they lie outside for a few hours, have a shower to feel refreshed again, the head back out, shower again.. it's an unending circle. However, while this is important, water restrictions are expected to come into place.
We may need to rethink out daily structures!
The Irish Times released a statement today saying:
"Much of the island of Ireland will be in a state of “absolute drought” by this evening, Met Éireann has confirmed.
Should the dry spell continue water restrictions are expected to be initiated in a number of areas, while several local authorities have already introduced hose bans."
Apparently “Absolute drought” is defined by 15 consecutive days where rainfall is less than 0.1mm at Met Éireann rainfall measuring stations.
Hose bans have already been implemented by the Galway County Council and South Tipperary County.
Beware lads! We need to ensure our Emerald Isle doesn't turn into this:
And I'm sure you've heard it enough over the last while but be sure to wear sun cream! We've all undeniably seen enough burnt arms to last a decade!
