Irish Twitter users react to the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI

Pope Benedict XVI has announced that he is to resign on 28 February for health reasons, becoming the first pontiff in almost 600 years to step down as leader of the Catholic Church.
In a statement released by the Vatican this morning, the 85-year-old said that both strength of mind and body are necessary to complete the duties of the role and that he felt that he could no longer carry them out satisfactorily.
'In today’s world, subject to so many rapid changes and shaken by questions of deep relevance for the life of faith, in order to govern the bark of Saint Peter and proclaim the Gospel, both strength of mind and body are necessary, strength which in the last few months, has deteriorated in me to the extent that I have had to recognize my incapacity to adequately fulfill the ministry entrusted to me.'
The news has elicited a strong reaction on Twitter, with many users expressing shock at the sudden announcement.
However, in typical Irish style, it didn't take long for the jokes to start flowing:
If the Pope is retiring, I imagine he's gonna get one epic golden handshake.
