Bronx native Brian McCarthy wants to be New York's Bachelor of the year - and he's pulling out all the stops to get there. Not only has he spent the time to photoshop himself into iconic images, a Facebook page 'Brian Mccarthy for "Bachelor of the Year" has been created in his honor.

We spoke to his team of fundraisers and supporters to find out more about his campaign for fame - here's what they had to say.

Brian was approached by the folks at the Aisling Irish Community Center (a charitable organisation based in Yonkers, New York) to be a part of their fundraiser which they were looking to rekindle after a few years on the back burner.

This particular FB page was created by Brian's friends to help bring attention to the event and help raise as much as possible for the Aisling Center.

In regards to winning it really doesn't matter who "wins" as the ultimate goal is to bring to the forefront the good work the Aisling Center does for the Irish (and non-Irish) communities in and around NY.

Brian himself plays in a trad Irish band based in the Woodlawn area called Jameson's Revenge and is a regular at charitable events throughout the year for any number of folks/causes that may need assistance.

Most recently he was instrumental in helping organize The Sandy Seisiún Fund which to date, has raised over $60,000 (€44,000) to assist those most affected by Hurricane Sandy (along with a few other NY based Irish musicians).

What makes him the ultimate bachelor?

As far as qualifications go he is probably no more qualified than any of the other eight fellas in the competition as they are all good men stepping up for a great cause and a bit of craic.

He is no stranger to playing to the crowd with his years of playing music with Jameson's Revenge and occasionally with the wildly popular NY based Irish band Shilelagh Law.

So will Brian accept a date if he beats off the competition?

If he does happen to win we're sure he won't turn down many propositions that may come his way. It would be rude not to.

Here are some great campaign posters from the Brian McCarthy Facebook page:

The fundraiser takes place this Saturday at Gaelic Park in the city. You can get your tickets at The Rambling House Bar- Restaurant.
