Do you blog?

Do you live outside of Ireland?

Do you have an Irish connection? Are one of your ancestors Irish?

If the answer to all 3 questions is yes - you will be interested in this. Would you like to submit your blog into a blog awards?

Blog Awards Ireland has created a new category this year - The Best Blog of the Diaspora - which is open to all bloggers abroad with an Irish connection. The blog can be of any theme. All blogs entered will be judged by independent judges and can go through three rounds of judging. First the long list is published, then the short list and finally, the finalist list with the winner being announced at the blog awards event in Co. Kildare on 12th October.

Amanda Webb, Beatrice Hunt and Lorna Sixsmith (organisers of Blog Awards Ireland) with Mona Wise (winner of Best Blog in 2012)

The diaspora category is being sponsored by TG4, the Irish language television channel. TG4 has a player that can be accessed from almost anywhere in the world, thereby ensuring that everyone can still watch their favourite Irish language programmes and improve their as Gaeilge too.

The deadline is coming up soon. You can enter your blog up until next Wednesday at midnight GMT (7th August). You can self nominate your own blog or you can nominate any blog you admire as long as it fulfils the criteria above. When submitting, you will need the blog web address, the email address of the blogger, the county the blogger (or their ancestor) originally hailed from and please write a reason as to why you consider this blog to be worthy of nomination. Just click send and that is it.

You can nominate the blog right here.

Good luck!

Lorna
