WorldIrish.com will officially become part of IrishCentral on September 15, 2013.

IrishCentral is the online sister publication of Irish America magazine and the Irish Voice newspaper, both 25 years in publishing, along with The Irish Emigrant and IrishCentral Community News.

What is IrishCentral?

IrishCentral.com was started in March 2009 to serve the the 70 million Irish diaspora around the world. The website provides timely current affairs, sport, entertainment, and Irish culture news, along with much more, to over 1.6 million Irish a month.

Based in New York City, with additional editorial staff in Ireland, IrishCentral is at the center point of major news announcements affecting the Irish community. Our editorial staff operates 24/7 to bring the latest in Irish news, entertainment, sports, gossip, opinion, and craic to their readers.

Will my WorldIrish.com account details be transferred to IrishCentral?

Yes - the account details you registered with WorldIrish.com will be transferred to Irish Central.

If you wish to become a member of the Irish Central website, you can register at www.irishcentral.com/?reg. It only takes a minute and if you wish you can use your Facebook account.

What can I do on IrishCentral?

Members of IrishCentral can read and comment on stories, share and watch videos and photos, and organise and find events.

Will I still have a WorldIrish profile page and be able to add stories, events or photos?

Currently, IrishCentral does not have profile pages nor can they add stories themselves.

However, if you are interested in submitting content, becoming a blogger for IrishCentral or just wish to make suggestions for stories please send an email with the story or article to [email protected].

What will happen to my old content and photos on WorldIrish?

IrishCentral will be converting over most but not all of the content that was listed on WorldIrish on www.irishcentral.com/worldirish. If you would like your stories or photos to be added, please send an email to [email protected]

Will there be changes to the @ireland project?

WorldIrish with IrishCentral.com will continue as custodians of the @Ireland twitter account, selecting curators to look after the account.

The @Ireland Twitter account rotates each week with a new voice introduced every Monday morning. As the Ireland of today is not confined to the island of Ireland, the varied voices of @Ireland come from Ireland and across the world.

Started in March 2012 and inspired by the @Sweden project, @Ireland is based around the idea that a single voice cannot represent a country. By sharing people's experiences and lives with the world, project custodians WorldIrish believe @Ireland can help to further connect Ireland to the world and the world to Ireland through the different voices that curate the account each week.

People can apply to be the voice of @Ireland for a week or can nominate a person they believe could represent Ireland. To apply or nominate someone email: [email protected].

If you are applying to curate @Ireland yourself please include the following in your email: your own Twitter account handle (username), your phone number and times/days that are convenient to contact you, a one-paragraph biography telling us about yourself and a 140-character description of why you would make a good @Ireland curator!
